Langley
High School Crew was started in 1993 by a group of interested and
dedicated parents, students, and friends. Since that time, the Crew
team has been committed to continued development and the attainment
of excellence.
What is
Langley Crew? It is quite simply the best sport around. Rowing gets
in your blood...and before you know it, you're hooked. It is the
ultimate workout, but incredibly fun. It's also a highly recruited
college sport. Although Crew is a club sport at Langley because
it is not financially supported by Fairfax County, it operates as
a Varsity sport in all other aspects. Crew athletes are eligible
for Varsity Letters and fall under the rules and regulations of
the Virginia High School League. Crew is a Spring season sport with
the first practice in the last week of February. Regattas are held
most weekends starting in March. Our home base for rowing practice
and regattas is Sandy Run Regional Park in Occoquan, VA. We also
travel to several national regattas for the best in crew competition.
Crew is
a coed sport and teaches teamwork and personal bests. Crew builds
friends, character ... and muscle! Rowing offers an outstanding
opportunity to improve self-discipline while providing a wonderful
means of learning about teamwork. We welcome anyone from Langley
High School who wishes to learn about rowing and we fully support
maximum participation in regatta competition. Come join the team!
