Rowing in College

Thinking about rowing in college? Well, here are some tips from your fellow athletes who have already gone through the college application process.

1. Start your college search early… highly recommend searching in the fall of your junior year.

2. Buy an up to date copy of the Rowers Almanac (see link below) which lists all colleges and universities that have rowing. It also lists whether the college/university has Division I, II, III or if rowing is just a club sport and whether scholarships are available.

3. Early in your senior year, sign up with the NCAA Clearinghouse (see link below) so that you will be eligible to participate in college sports at Division I, II, or III schools. If you do not sign up, you will not be able to participate your freshman year.

4. Once you have made a decision on the selected colleges/universities that you are going to apply to , contact those coaches via email/phone and schedule a visit with them. Remember that depending on the division of the school, you many not be able to talk to them until after June 1st of your junior year
.
