This is for Navy. It's an amazing camp, praised by college
coaches.

UVA rowing camp is also a very good rowing camp. A lot of girls
from Langley did it two summers ago and they had a good time and
learned a lot.

Boston University racing camp – I don't know much about this one,
but I do know that they have an amazing boat house!

Wisconsin Rowing Camp. Wisconsin's lightweight girls are 1st in
the nation!

This is the summer competitive program, and it also runs from June
to August. It's a ten minute drive from Langley, which isn't bad
at all. Thompsons has a very good reputation and have amazing coaches.

this is a summer developmental program that runs from June to August,
5 days a week. It's a little intense, but it's a good way to stay
in shape. People are also allowed to take vacations. I'm doing the
competitive program[or trying out for it at least] this summer.
There are also fall programs as well, which you all should look
into. Fall rowing is much different from spring rowing. in the fall,
there are head races, which are 6000 meters long.
Yet another option for summer crew opportunities nearby. Good program
hosted by some experienced coaches on the Occoquan.
Virginia
Juniors – Summer Rowing Program
Program Overview: Join some of the areas top high school coaches
for
our annual summer rowing camp on the Occoquan River! There are two
four week sessions offered over a several week period and include
classes for beginners and intermediate level rowers. The Camps are
open to all area high school kids and are designed to improve the
rowers and coxswains technique, overall skill level and fitness
development. The camps have been divided into two general ability
levels - beginning rower (novice and most rowers who have one season
of rowing with no varsity boat experience) and an intermediate level
(rowers with two years of rowing experience at the varsity level).
These sessions meet from 6 - 8pm Monday – Thursday. If you are unsure
of about your skill level - please contact the camp administrator.
Goal: To develop individual rowing skills and enable campers to
become skilled in adding speed to an eight or four. Boats will be
based on skill and boat moving ability with an effort to mix different
schools into each boat. The intermediate rowers will be video taped
and time will be devoted to video review to help develop a more
efficient rowing stroke. Discussions will be held on how to develop
a
higher level of strength/fitness to improve individual 'boat moving'
ability.
Registration Information: Camp participants will pay a one time
fee of
$300, which will cover four weeks or 16 camp sessions. Every effort
will be made to make up any days that are canceled due to weather
(this may cause us to practice on Saturday mornings to make up lost
sessions). Experienced coxswains will be given free admission.
Rowers will be given the option of purchasing additional 1 week
sessions at the cost of $50 per week after the first block of 4
weeks
has been paid for.
Summer Vacations: If camp participants miss practice sessions because
of family vacations, they will be allowed to make it up during a
later
session if capacity allows. Please contact the camp administrator
in
advance if you plan to miss practices due to family vacations.
Dates: Camp 1 – June 18 – July 14
Camp 2 – July 23 – August 18
