I know that many of us returned home late last evening after two action packed days along the Schuylkill River.  Our late return was all the fault of our Varsity Women's 4 who brought home a boatload of silver medals in a very exciting and tight race at this year's Stotesbury Cup Regatta.  After breezing through the semis earlier in the day, our Saxon women faced some of the toughest boats in the country for the finals.  With teams charging from left and right, the team of Robinson, Slade, Ackerman, Fountain, and Yu kept their form and crossed the finish line just behind the winner and just ahead of two other boats.  This second place finish is the very best finish that ANY Langley boat has achieved at Stotesbury.  What a grand accomplishment and further evidence of the strength of our program.

In addition to our WV4, our Women's JV 8 shined during the time trials (#10) and faced a tough semi-final race on Saturday.  It was also good to see our other boats in competition on Friday - great experience for all those rowers who are certain to row on future Stotesbury Saturdays to come.

I would also like to thank all of our board members and volunteers who provided all the planning and support necessary for us to keep our team fed, rested, and ready to row.  In particular I'd like to thank Sandy Meeker, who as our Travel Coordinator, did a great job handling all the details and contingencies that cropped up.  Our new Langley Crew tent also looked great!

This coming week many of our athletes will be headed to the Cooper River for the SRAA Nationals.  We wish them all the very best as they face the very best in the country.
