New Rowers Information

Welcome to Langley Crew! We are excited that you are interested in joining our championship team and are committed to making your time with us as fun and as easy as we can. To that end, we’ve put together some basic information so you know what to expect.

The Prospective New Rower’s FAQs answers the questions most rowers new to crew need to know. Find out things like how practices work, if you can do other activities, how you get to practice, and how many regattas there are each season.

The New Rower’s Regatta Survival Guide walks you through what you need to know for your first regatta season, but didn’t want to ask your more-experienced teammates. Find out things like where you need to go, what time you need to be there, and what’s up with the “food tent.”

The New Rower’s Guide consolidates all the information you need to be a successful member of Langley Crew in one PDF. This Guide combines FAQs, Athlete Guidelines and a glossary of rowing terminology in one place. The Athlete Guidelines includes what behavior is expected of Langley Crew team members, how to receive a varsity letter in Crew, and what you need to get your parents to do. The glossary of rowing terminology will save you having to ask your teammates things like what a coxswain is, which side is port, and what “check it” means.
